The JSC is Born
When the Iron Curtain fell in 1991, Ministry to Israel became heavily involved in helping to bring Jewish families to Israel from the former Soviet Union. Our first emotions were that of deep contentment, knowing that this was the hand of God fulfilling prophecy before our very eyes. It became apparent, however, that the absorption process for these newly arriving immigrants was sometimes overwhelming and even heartbreaking. Many arriving at the Ben Gurion Airport came with great expectations, only to be dashed against the rocks of reality. Some, unable to cope with the hardships of daily life in Israel, where they did not know the language, culture, or customs, eventually turned their eyes back to Mother Russia. In 1997, the leadership of the Ministry realized that it was not enough to help them home, but that they needed assistance once they got here. After much prayer for direction, the Jerusalem Support Center was established.
Since the establishment of the JSC, we have been able to open other regional support centers that are located in Haifa, Beer Sheva, Afula, and Nahariya.
The Purpose of the Support Centers
The primary commitment of the Support Centers is to help new Jewish immigrants who have been in the country for less than 10 years. The qualified staff of our Support Centers is Russian, Hebrew, Spanish and English speaking and have assisted tens of thousands of Jews to start a new life in the Promised Land. Not only does the Support Centers staff help in benevolent ways, the staff also provides an inviting atmosphere where people feel respected and cared for from the moment they walk through the door.

What the Israel Support Centers Provide for New Immigrants:
Expansion of Support Centers Across the Country
Over the years, the JSC has been a lifeline for thousands of individuals nationwide. Recognizing the challenges many face in reaching Jerusalem for assistance, we’ve expanded our reach to various cities across the Land. Today, our support centers in Haifa, Afula, Beer Sheva, and Nahariya offer the same vital services as our headquarters in Jerusalem. From aiding new immigrants and lone soldiers to supporting Holocaust survivors, our centers provide crucial assistance. Additionally, our distribution centers in these cities offer access to essentials such as clothing sourced from containers brought to the country by MTI, along with a range of other forms of aid.
