I’ve been here many times. I honestly thought I wouldn’t see anything new or meet anyone new anymore.
But God had other plans.
As we opened the trunk and began handing out food, familiar faces gathered — people we’ve served before. Then a young man approached us. His name was Roma.
What happened next felt almost surreal.
Roma was born and raised in the same city in Ukraine as I was.
The same neighborhood.
The same school.
The only difference?
When I moved to Israel at 21, he was just three years old.
After feeding everyone, we made an invitation: If anyone wants to leave the streets tonight and enter rehab, we can help you take that step. Some said they’d think about it. Some had tried before.
We prayed together.
Then we drove home — peaceful, grateful, and reminded once again that God is always at work, even in places we think we’ve already seen it all.
Sometimes ministry isn’t about doing something new —
it’s about seeing with fresh eyes what God has been doing all along.
